Eastern Sierra Fall Colors

October 6-9 2011

We will meet in the wonderful town of Bishop California and over the course of the workshop follow the light and the fall colors up and down the East Side of the Sierras. Josh will be working directly with each and every individual to help with composition, technique, camera settings, and understanding lighting. Josh has shot fall in the Eastern Sierra for many years, has published many articles about the area, and knows where to go to find the best conditions.

Price: $1,095 (includes three nights lodging) with a minimum 50% non-refundable deposit due upon booking. Balance due 30 days before trip. Student to instructor ratio no more than 6 to 1.

Transportation: The workshop begins in Bishop along Hwy 395. Transportation is not included, but we can carpool during the workshop.

Lodging: Double occupancy rooms included. $150 single room supplement available.

Meals: Meals are not included, but the group will most likely eat meals as a group. It is a good idea to carry lots of snacks and water in order to take advantage of lighting conditions that may develop.

Call (530) 575-8083 with questions or to book the trip.

DAY ONE: Meet in Bishop in the evening for introductions, and a slideshow introducing the area as well as photographic techniques. We will try to do the slide show late enough to allow people time to shoot the sunset on their way to the workshop.

DAY TWO: We will rise early to shoot sunrise at Mono Lake and then shoot the fall colors at key locations between Mono Lake and Bishop. We will stop for a lunch break and shoot again late in the afternoon for good light. Evening image critique after dinner.

DAY THREE: We will shoot sunrise in the Bishop area. We will then shoot fall colors in several key locations in the Bishop area until mid morning. If conditions allow we will carpool to the White Mountains to photograph the ancient Bristlecone Pines for the afternoon and sunset. Depending on weather and conditions we may also do star trail photography after dark. Bring a sack dinner if you are planning on shooting the stars.

DAY FOUR: We will shoot sunrise in the Bishop area at one of a number of great locations depending on the conditions and continue shooting fall colors and landscapes until the workshop ends after our morning shoot.
